The Weston Emergency Medical Services is an all volunteer Advance Life Support Service that is located in The Village of Weston in Northwest Ohio. The service is owned by the Village of Weston and was started in 1975 as a basic county operated service. In the early 1980's Wood County turned the service over to the village. In 1997 certification was issued to the service to provide Advance Cardiac Life Support. The service is responsible for the areas of Liberty Township, Milton Township, and Weston Township, including the villages of Custar and Milton Center located in Milton Township, Rudolph located in Liberty Township, and Weston located in Weston Township. The coverage area of the combined townships is 87.8 square miles. Total population listed in county records of the year 2008 is 5295 persons. The service is also part of a county wide mutual aid contract. Current staffing includes (11) EMT-P (paramedic), (4) EMT-I (intermediate), and (11) EMT-B (basic). The service is fortunate to have First Responder support from The Central Joint Fire District in Liberty Township, The Milton Township Fire District in Milton Township, and The Weston Fire Department in Weston Township. Critical Air Medical Transport care is provided by the St. Vincent Life Flight Program based in Toledo, Ohio. Most transports are made to The Wood County Hospital located in Bowling Green, Ohio. Our Medical Director is Dr. Chris Goliver from the hospital's emergency room department. Questions can be directed to Chief Kathy Heyman (Kathy@cresset.com) or Assistant Chief Tim Schroeder (bgfiremedic@gmail.com).
